How Often Should I Schedule A Maintenance Appointment?

Furnace maintenance should be done before the winter season starts. Knowing your heater is going to run properly is a must for every homeowner. Our maintenance service is thorough and detailed, so when we’re done, you can be confident your heating system will be dependable and work efficiently all winter long.

What Happens During Maintenance to Your Heater?

We check all of the components in your furnace to make sure they are functioning safely. Maintenance should be done once a year, unless services are required sooner.

During Maintenance, our technicians start by checking the ignitor. This will naturally wear down overtime. If there is enough wear and tear on the ignitor, we replace it so your furnace continues to fire. We inspect the heat exchanger because it needs to heat up when the gas fires within the combustion chamber. It is important to make sure the heat exchanger doesn’t have any cracks in it due to the risk of carbon monoxide leaks. We will always run a carbon monoxide test during maintenance. We then look at the blow motor and listen for any unusual noises or vibrations that may indicate the need for repair. Safety switches are tested so your system can be shut down right away if the furnace gets too hot. We will show you where these are so you can be ready in an emergency. Gas pipes are inspected for any possible leaks. We make sure the flue venting is drafting correctly and that there is no visible damage that could affect flue gases from being pushed out of your home as they should be. We clean and inspect the burners to ensure they are releasing gas efficiently. If your system has a humidifier, we can inspect and change the pad so it is on and operating correctly. During maintenance we can change the filter if it needs replacing. The filter is one of the most important components in the system. It keeps the heater and air in your home clean. Depending on the type of heating system you have, there may also be dampers. If these are inside your ductwork, we can make any adjustments necessary in order to release maximum airflow. Drain lines are also inspected and cleaned to prevent clogging.

Don’t wait until your heating system breaks down to call us. We can save you time and money with our maintenance service. Simple repairs cost a lot less than an entirely new heating system. If you have loved ones or older parents, make sure their heater is ready for winter too. Schedule your appointment with us today.
